Today we’re back with a comparison review between the Toyota LC300 and Lexus LX600. These are Toyota’s toughest and most luxurious flagship SUVs, providing the ultimate off-road experience and top-notch luxury. In this video, we will review these cars side by side, compare their features, discuss their history, and find out which one is superior.
The Land Cruiser debuted in 1951, initially being a pure off-road focused and purpose-built machine; it has now evolved into a very stylish and luxurious SUV on its 70th anniversary. The Lexus LX joined the Land Cruiser in 1995 with the LX450, followed by the LX470, LX570, and now the LX600.
Previously both these cars were almost identical in design; however, with recent iterations, the LX is aimed to target people who want the toughness of a Land Cruiser but with some extra luxury.
Both the LC and LX have ladder-frame chassis and share Toyota’s TNGA-F platform. Despite looking very bulky compared to the previous generation, both cars are actually 200 kilograms lighter. This new platform makes these cars more off-road capable and enhances efficiency due to weight reduction.
As for the engine, V8 has been discontinued; these cars now come with a 3.5 liter twin-turbo V6 producing around 409 hp and 650 nm of torque. This engine is configured with a 10-speed automatic transmission delivering power to all four wheels.
The front end is boxy and aggressive, starting with LC’s exterior. The huge horizontal grill covers most of the bumper with sharp rectangular headlamps. The structure gives off a very rugged look, continuing the theme of Land cruisers over the years. The sides have edgy contours with smoked 20-inch alloys and an upright rear end giving it a distinctive look.
On the other hand, opposing the rugged and sharp looks of the LC, the LX’s design is more elegant and flowy. The front spindle grille is the highlight of the front end, with Trick Blade-scan headlamps sleekly integrated. The sides are impressive, with a huge fender arch giving it a wide stance, beautiful 22-inch alloys, soft closing doors, and smooth character lines. The rear end features all-new run-through LED tail lamps, giving it a premium look.
Both cars now feature a floating infotainment system, but the interior layout differs. Starting with the Land Cruiser, the sharp cuts from the exterior extend to the interior too. The center panel is the main control spot with a 12.3-inch screen and several buttons. The instrument cluster still has analogue dials along with a MID and shows a list of vehicle information. Materials used are very hefty and premium, with perforated leather seats, aluminum-finished buttons and knobs, wooden trims, and a dual-tone interior.
Sitting in the LX, it instantly feels a league above; the interior feels way more luxurious, and the attention to detail is impressive. The main highlight inside is the split screen setup in the center; a 12.3-inch screen at the top is the infotainment system, while the climate control and vehicle information can be accessed from a 7-inch display.
The contrast of materials used is leather, smoked chrome, wooden trims, and soft plastic. The instrument cluster here is also fully digital with an 8-inch screen along with paddle shifters on the steering; something is missing in the LC.
As for off-road and safety features, both the cars have very similar features, which include crawl control, multi-terrain select, differential lock, L4, H4, adaptive suspension, etc. safety consists of 10 airbags, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, electronic brake distribution, traction control, lane keep assist, a 360-degree camera and much more.
The LX, however, has some extra features which add a pinch of luxury. These include soft closing doors, larger alloy wheels, fingerprint authentication on the start/stop button, an optional 25-speaker mark levinson sound system, rear captain chairs in the Ultra Luxury variant, a voice command system, and an underbody camera for off-roading.
As for the price, the Land Cruiser LC300 costs around PKR 100 to 120 million, while the Lexus LX600 comes in at around PKR 170 to 200 million. These are estimated figures, and the prices depend on the customs duties of Pakistan and the specific variant of the car imported.
